Pus filled pimples

Could be caused by

Hormonal imbalance
Dirty scalp or dirty skin
Excessive oil production during that age (due to the hormonal fluctuation)
Familial (which can occur in spite of the hormones being in place)

Sometimes the hormonal variations alone manifests itself as teenage acne or could also be a part of the very commonly known Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (P.C.O.S) which I have noticed becoming increasingly common in teens lately and surprisingly may not be always associated with menstrual irregularities.
